About Loading Data from Microsoft Azure SQL Server to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure

Enable your databases running on Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure to load and query data from Microsoft Azure SQL Server databases.

Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure (OracleDB for Azure) enables Azure applications to load and query data from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) databases. The architectures in this playbook describe how Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure can leverage the infrastructure provided by OracleDB for Azure to load and query data from an Azure SQL Server using a database link. The purpose of this playbook is to walkthrough the following three methods to implement this database link:

  • Oracle Database Gateway for SQL Server running on OCI Compute
  • Oracle Database Gateway for SQL Server running on an Azure Virtual Machine
  • Oracle Heterogeneous Services running on Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure

Architecture

OracleDB for Azure provides the infrastructure for automated cloud connectivity between Azure and OCI with low latency. Provision and manage Oracle databases in OCI from the Azure-like OracleDB for Azure Portal.

The following diagram illustrates this architecture.
