image control

A feature that lets a developer display pictures stored as bitmap files that are associated with business component records.

image fee

A flat-rate charge for uploading images to be posted to an auction site.

imaging system

Software that allows paper documents to be captured in digitized format for indexing, printing, faxing, distributing, and archiving.

immediate annuity

An annuity under which benefit payments commence one annuity period after the annuity is purchased. An annuity period is the time span between each of the payments.

inbound integration

The process of making data from an external application accessible from within a Siebel application.

Indirect expenses

Expenses incurred while executing a service. This includes costs for generating a service request, shipment costs, pick tickets, email response cost, and so on.

index

In relational databases, a system table that cross-references the values in selected database columns to the rows in which those values reside. Indexes can improve the performance of queries.

instantiate

(1) In Siebel eBusiness Applications, to instantiate is to create an instance of an object definition. (2) In object-oriented programming, to instantiate is to create an instance of a class.

instructional text

In Siebel SmartScript, a script to assist call center agents in troubleshooting or selling.

integration message

A document typically consisting of header and body data. Header data identifies the message type and structure. Body data contains one or more instances of data, for example orders, accounts, or employee records.

integration object

Defines integration points in the Siebel eBusiness Application Integration (eAI) architecture. See also integration point.

integration point

The data interface that connects business processes. An integration point can consist of equivalent and overlapping information that resides in two applications. An integration point can also be defined to connect distinct, but related, information that is needed to support the different steps of a business process. See also integration object.

interapplication variables

Variables that can be sent back and forth between a Siebel application and external applications that access the Siebel application.

interface table

A table that denormalizes a group of base tables into a single table with which external programs can interface. Used by Siebel Enterprise Integration Manager to import initial data for populating one or more base tables. See also base table and table, in relational database.

Internal order

Document used to replenish stock or move inventory among inventory locations.

internal relationships

Relationships the customer has with other divisions within the organization.

internationalization

The process of making a software product localizable for any locale. It is often abbreviated as I18N because there are 18 characters between the initial I and the terminal N.

intersection table

A table that implements a many-to-many relationship between two business components. It may also hold intersection data columns, which store information pertaining to each association.

intranet

A network inside a company or organization that is accessed by using the same kinds of software (such as Web servers and browsers) as those used on the public Internet.

Inventory levels

Categories of inventory that specify availability and status. An inventory level is specified by a pair of values; for example:

Inventory levels can exist at any inventory location.

Inventory location

The physical location of inventory; for example, a field engineer's trunk, a warehouse, or a sublevel, such as a shelf or an aisle in a warehouse.

investments

A collection of individual securities usually held in an investment account.

Invoice

A document describing the work performed and the amount billed to and payable by the customer.

item detail page

The Siebel eAuction Web page containing information about a given item, such as the item number, item description, item photo (if available), lister ID, link to the lister's rating, link to send email messages to the lister, and item bidding history.

ITIN

A number used by nonresident aliens in the United States as a type of TIN or SSNtax identification number.

jeopardy

A state in which a contractual commitment is in danger of not being met. This may occur for several reasons, such as a vehicle breakdown or a previous job running late.
