The Virtualized M2 NEM supports hot-plug insertion and removal. Hot plug insertion and removal involves two separate interfaces to chassis components: PCIe interfaces and SAS interfaces. This section describes guidelines and actions required to prepare PCIe and SAS interfaces for the NEM hot plug actions.
The guidelines and procedures in this section are not intended to be comprehensive removal and installation procedures. For step-by-step instructions on hot plug installation or removal, see Installing or Replacing the Virtualized M2 NEM.

Note - Hot plug operations are not supported for server modules with VMware ESX operating system installed.
