Direct SQL deployment provides a faster way of deploying your content. It writes data directly into your database using SQL statements. Note that while direct SQL deployment can be used for either online or switch deployments, it can only be used for full deployments. Your incremental deployments will use standard deployment.
Note also that if you are using direct SQL deployment and your publishing and production database schemas are on different machines, you must set up database links (Oracle) or linked servers (MSSQL) between the machines. For more information, see Configure Direct SQL Deployment.
