Prepare the Server for OS Installation

1. Launch Oracle System Assistant as described in Launching Oracle System Assistant.
2. Use Oracle System Assistant to perform the tasks shown in the following table.

   Step Task Oracle System Assistant Screen For More Information 1 Set up Oracle System Assistant network connection. Network Configuration Prepare Oracle System Assistant 2 Get latest software and firmware updates that will be used by Oracle System Assistant. Get Updates Getting Server Firmware and Software 3 Update Oracle ILOM, BIOS, disk expander, or HBA firmware, if needed. Oracle recommends using the latest supported BIOS and firmware versions available. Update Firmware Installing Updates 4 Configure Oracle ILOM. This helps prepare your service processor for access. Configure Hardware > Service Processor Configuration Connecting to Oracle ILOM You might have done this. 5 Configure RAID. The Oracle System Assistant RAID configuration utility is used to create volumes on your disks. A volume can then be used for an OS, or be included in a RAID set. Caution  -  Data loss. Do not use this option on a disk with a preinstalled OS. Configure Hardware > RAID Configuration Configuring RAID Using Oracle System Assistant. 6 Install an operating system using the Oracle System Assistant Install OS wizard. Supported operating systems include Oracle Solaris, Linux, Windows, or Oracle VM software. Caution  -  Data loss. Do not use this option on a disk with a preinstalled OS.
