Prepare the Server for OS Installation

  1. Launch Oracle System Assistant as described in Launching Oracle System Assistant.
  2. Use Oracle System Assistant to perform the tasks shown in the following table.

    Set up Oracle System Assistant network connection.

    Get latest software and firmware updates that will be used by Oracle System Assistant.

    Update Oracle ILOM, BIOS, disk expander, or HBA firmware, if needed. Oracle recommends using the latest supported BIOS and firmware versions available.

    Configure Oracle ILOM. This helps prepare your service processor for access.
    Configure Hardware > Service Processor Configuration
    You might have done this.

    Configure RAID. The Oracle System Assistant RAID configuration utility is used to create volumes on your disks. A volume can then be used for an OS, or be included in a RAID set.

    Caution  -  Data loss. Do not use this option on a disk with a preinstalled OS.

    Configure Hardware > RAID Configuration

    Install an operating system using the Oracle System Assistant Install OS wizard. Supported operating systems include Oracle Solaris, Linux, Windows, or Oracle VM software.
