This appendix lists the ciphers that Oracle approves for use with MDEX and Platform Services. The order in which the items appear in the lists is not indicative of any priority among the items.

Oracle strongly recommends that you use only the algorithms listed in this appendix. Applications that use algorithms not listed in this appendix are vulnerable to serious breaches of security.

The following list contains the algorithms that are currently approved by Oracle for use with Platform Services.
The three ciphers marked by asterisks (AES256-SHA256,
DHE-DSS-AES256-SHA256, and DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA256) can be used only if you
download and install the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE). The JCE comprises
two jar files,
local_policy.jar and
US_export_policy.jar, both of which you must download to
each of the following locations:
