Application Implementation Wizard Startup Window Reference

You use the Application Implementation Wizard Startup Window to launch an implementation process.

Process field

The Process list of values displays processes for only those products you have installed. If a product is not installed, then the process for the corresponding product is not displayed in the list.

When the Wizard shows you a list of eligible processes, it does not include processes that depend upon a set of books setup (SOB); the system does not consider your set of books context to be valid until you have defined a set of books and specified its calendar, chart of accounts, and currency.

Similarly, the Wizard does not show you setup processes that depend upon a Business Group (BG), Inventory Organization (IO), or Operating Unit (OU) until you have defined at least one of that kind of organization.

Context field

Depending upon the process you chose to begin, you may have to enter a Context value to indicate, for example, the particular set of books for which you want to provide setup information. Some processes require a Set of Books context, some require a HR Business Group, some require an Inventory Organization, and some require an Operating Unit. And other processes, particularly the Common Applications processes, require no context in which to run.

Note that the required context value is always displayed in the right hand column of the Process list of values, so you know in advance which kind of context value you need to specify. And, the Context list of values is restricted to the particular kind of context (or organizational entity) that a particular process requires.

Later, when a notification recipient tries to open a setup window for one of the steps in this process, the system validates the notification recipient's current set of books or other organizational entity against the context you specified here, and tells the recipient to change to a different responsibility if appropriate.

Role field

When you submit an implementation process, which generally includes several steps and may include sub-processes, the notifications for each step are sent to the person associated with the Role you specify here.
