Responding to Process Notifications

When you receive a notification, it generally means that you have been assigned to complete a setup task. As the current owner of a task, you can:

You can see and respond only to those notifications that were sent to you; using the Notifications window, you cannot read the notifications sent to other project team members.

To help you understand task that has been assigned to you, you can get detailed information using the Notifications window. For example, you can:

To document your implementation, you can optionally enter comments related to the data setup of the form, for future reference.

Completing and Skipping a Task

Marking a step "Done" and merely "Skipping" the step are similar from a process perspective; both trigger the system to issue a notification to begin the next setup step. (Of course, if you skipped a step without entering some data that is a prerequisite for the next step, you may not be able to complete that step, which you will learn when you try to open up, enter data into, or save data from the next step's corresponding setup windows.) However, depending upon the kind of completion reporting you want to do, the Done status and the Skipped status will result in different results.

Interpreting a Notification

Each notification's message begins with several pieces of overview information, including information about the notification's context organization and whether the step is required or not. For example, a message might begin with the following text:

Context: OU- Vision Corporation
<Required>

This message tells you that you must complete this step using a responsibility whose Operating Unit is Vision Corporation, and that you should enter setup data appropriate for Vision Corporation. Also, you cannot skip this step.

For more information about context organizations, see: Completing Context-Dependent Steps

The message text displays brief guidelines and hints for setting up data related to the particular form.

Save and Proceed

Save the data which you entered in your system and proceed to view the next notification or start a new process as the case may be.
