Associating a Contact or a Partner with a Case


The case agent can associate one or more contacts with a case record. Partners can be used to track tax preparers, law firms, or other third party organizations involved in a particular case.

These tasks are a step in Process of Managing Tax Cases

To add a contact to a tax case

  1. Navigate to the Case List view, and query for the case name or case number.
  2. In the case record, click the link in the Case Name field.
  3. From the Case form, click the Contacts view tab.
  4. In the Contact list, click new and select an existing contact.

    Create a new contact by clicking New in the Add Contact dialog box.

To add a partner

  1. Navigate to the Case List view, and query for the case name or case number.
  2. In the case record, click the link in the Case Name field.
  3. From the Case form, click the Partners view tab.
  4. In the Partners list, click New and select a predefined partner to associate with the case.

    When a partner is associated with a case record, the partner record is automatically designated as the primary. You can change the primary partner if more than one partner is associated with the case record.
