Working with Asset Components

Asset component files provide message creators and administrators the ability to reuse, reorder or switch out unique contents, or sections, within an individual asset. For example, an asset might be composed of three component files which can be assembled together within a larger properly constructed asset. Together, these four pieces make up an event invitation:

  • Framework Asset: Background
  • Component File 1: Text for invitation
  • Component File 2: Picture of invitation location
  • Component File 3: Background visuals for invitation

If an organization wants to reuse, or leverage, this uniquely assembled asset for a 2nd event, instead of recreating the entire asset, it can switch out Component File 1 with different text related to the 2nd event; the picture and background visuals can also be switched to different files. Component files are managed at the literature item level.

You can view the components for your assets from the Components tab.

To add components to an asset

  1. From the Asset Management palette, select an asset.
  2. In the Asset Details section, click the Components tab.
  3. Locate the file you want to add to the Components table from the File Browser tab or from the Solutions tab in the quick bar on the left.
  4. Drag the file to the Components table.

You can remove the component from the table by clicking Delete (X) beside the component in the table.
