Process of Installing the Siebel Database Server


The Siebel Database Server (DB Server) installation process requires multiple tasks that you should perform in the following sequence:

Preinstallation Tasks for the DB Server Installation

  1. Fill out your copy of Deployment Planning Worksheet with all RDBMS-specific information.
  2. If you intend to implement load balancing or clustering on this database server, see Deployment Planning Guide.
  3. Perform preinstallation tasks. See Preinstallation Tasks for the Siebel Database Server Installation.

Install the DB Server

  1. Create the database instance. See Guidelines for Configuring the RDBMS.
  2. Install the Siebel Database Server software. See Siebel Database Server Installation.
  3. Review the installation. See Reviewing Installation of the Siebel Database Server.
  4. If required for your multilingual deployment, reset the Global Time Zone parameter. See Setting Up Your Environment to Support Global Time Zone.
  5. Create the tableowner and administrator accounts. See Creating Tableowner and Administrator Accounts.
  6. (DB2 only) Install stored procedures and user-defined functions. See Installing the Stored Procedures and User-Defined Functions on DB2.

Configure the DB Server

  1. Install the Siebel Database Server seed data, tables, and indexes. See Installing the DB Server Components.
  2. Review the database installation log for errors. See Reviewing the Log Files for the DB Server Installation.
  3. Import the Siebel Repository. See Importing the Siebel Repository for the DB Server.
  4. Review the repository import log files for errors. See Reviewing the Log Files for Repository Import for the DB Server.

Postinstallation Tasks for the DB Server Installation

  1. Review the system preference settings for Enterprise Database Server code page. See Verifying System Preferences for the DB Server.
