Creating a New Virtual Directory on Multiple Colocated Web Servers

You have the option of overriding the default Siebel software installation behavior by creating a virtual directory on more than one instance of the Web server on the same machine. For example, you may have multiple Web sites, each with its own URL, that you run on one Web server instance. However, by default, the SWSE installer installs only to the default Web site.

The best way to resolve this problem is by editing the siebel.ini file (installed in the bin directory of the SWSE instance) so that reinstallation of the SWSE does not revert to the same virtual directory.

To edit the siebel.ini file not to create the virtual directory

  1. Configure the siebel.ini file as shown in the following example:

    [RunAfter]

    ConfigEAppWeb = yes

    CreateVD = no

  2. Follow the instructions under Creating a New Virtual Directory to create a new virtual directory.
