Expanding Compressed Media into a Network Location

To extract the compressed media (ZIP files) to the central network image location, use a utility native to your platform that supports preservation of the original directory structure.

If you are downloading both Windows and UNIX files, make sure you have set up separate network locations to copy the files into, from the respective FTP locations.

NOTE:  All required components, such as Language Packs and encryption packs, should be extracted to a common location (per platform). Doing this keeps installation programs from querying users for an installation location later in the installation process.

To unzip files

  • Use a ZIP utility that supports preserving the directory structure of the contents and extract any ZIP files to a central network share.
