Document types control the types of documents that can be uploaded to the file cabinets and briefcases in CollabraSuite, BEA Edition. In order for the application to know how to open a document and which icon to display for a document, a document type must be defined. See Default Document Types for a list of the pre-defined document types that come with a new campus.
The Document Types Summary page allows the CollabraSuite, BEA Edition administrator basic functionality such as the ability to select, add, or modify a document type. It also provides access to the Document Types Details page, which presents specific information for each document type and enables administrators to modify document types.
To access the Document Types Summary page:
From the Campus Details page, select the Document Types tab.
The Document Types Summary page will appear.
To access the Document Types Details page:
From the Document Types Summary page, select the document type you wish to view or modify.
The Document Types Details page will appear.

Document Type Details
Selecting or adding a new document type on the Document Types Summary page will bring up the Document Type Details page. On this page, administrators may add, view, or modify document type details.
The details that may be added, viewed, or modified are as follows:
Document Type: A name used to identify the document type.
Document Type Icon: (Optional) Clicking the Browse button will open an explorer to locate the image file on your computer that will serve as the icon for this document. Click Save to save the icon or Delete to remove the icon.
Type: Either Link or File.
Select Link if the document type will be available when a user is adding a link to a file cabinet or Briefcase.
Select File if the document type will be available when a user is adding a file to a file cabinet or briefcase.
Ext: The file extension used by this file type.
MIME Type: The Mime Type for this type of file. For example the Mime Type for a plain text file or ".txt" file is "text/plain." If you are unsure of the Mime Type, ask your system administrator.
Description: A brief description of the document type.
To view or modify document type details:
Click on the document name listed on the Document Types Summary page. The Document Type Details page will appear.
Modify document information as desired.
Click the Save button to save your changes.

Adding Document Types

To add a new document type:
On the Document Types Summary page, click the New button to access a new Document Type Details page.
Complete document type information.

Click the Save button to save the new document type information. Changes will not be recorded unless you save.
Note:
To add another document type without returning to the Document Type Summary page, click the Save/Next button. A new Document Type Details page will appear.

Default Document Types
The following table lists the pre-defined document types that are installed when a new campus is created. Default document types are only added to a new campus, so you may not have all of these document types if you have upgraded your CollabraSuite, BEA Edition installation from a previous version. You can manually add any of the pre-defined document types using the information (and icons) shown below. The Unknown document type is required and should not be removed.
