Configuring SNMP Traps |
|
You use the Basic Trap Configuration tool in the Log Central Console to configure basic SNMP traps, which are generated by the Central Collector. For information about SNMP traps and to set up SNMP management, see Chapter 8, "Integrating SNMP," in the Log Central Configuration Guide. To configure advanced traps, see Chapter 7, "Creating Filters," in the Log Central Configuration Guide.
To configure a basic SNMP trap:
For detailed information about starting the Console, see Introducing the Log Central Console. For the lc_launch command syntax, see Commands.
The Log Central Console displays the Basic Trap Configuration tool.

If you enable trap generation based on message definition, the Central Collector generates a trap for an incoming message if the Trap Enabled field in the associated message definition is YES. The Trap ID in the message definition specifies the trap number that is generated. For descriptions of the Trap Enabled and Trap ID fields, see Log Central Message and Message Definition Formats.
If you enable trap generation based on severity, the Central Collector generates a trap for an incoming message if the message meets the trap configuration criteria as described in the next step.
Figure 6-2 Trap Configuration Tab
By default, the Trap Configuration tab displays the trap IDs described in SNMP Traps. You can change these values in the tab.
Note: If you enabled traps based on message definitions, the Central Collector uses the message definition's Trap ID field as the trap number even if the trap is generated based on severity.
