Generating a Message Report

To generate a message report:

  1. Set the message filtering criteria. For information, see Filtering Log Messages in Managing Log Messages.

  2. Query the database. For information, see Querying the Database in Managing Log Messages.

  3. From the File menu, choose Reports.

A submenu lets you generate a summary report or a detail report:

    • Summary report—groups messages by subsystem and presents the message totals for each severity level and log level.

    • Detail report—provides most of the message fields for each message.

The generated report is an HTML file that Log Central creates in install_dir/web/applet, where install_dir is the directory where you installed Log Central. To view this file, you need a Web browser that the Log Central Console can access. To specify a Web browser, use the -b option when you start the Log Central Console.
