Installing JRockit as Part of WebLogic Server 8.1

You can install BEA WebLogic JRockit 8.1 Beta as part of the BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 Beta installation, This enables you to run the server on JRockit, rather than the default JVM. This section includes information on the following subjects:

Note: This section augments more detailed WebLogic Server installation instructions presented in the BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 Beta Installation Guide.

How to Install JRockit 8.1 Beta with the WebLogic Server 8.1 Installer

Note: The following information is only relevant to the Custom WebLogic Server 8.1 Beta installation process. If you select the Typical installation process, you automatically select the default JVM.

During the custom WebLogic Server 8.1 Beta installation process you will be prompted to select the JVM upon which you want to run WebLogic Server. You are offered these choices:

Select Install JRockit. When this option is selected, a list of available versions of JRockit appears. Select the version you want to run. If that version is already installed in the target BEA home directory, the installer will use it and not reinstall one completely.

Note: This option is not available on all hardware platforms.

Selecting a Different JVM

If you select Install Other JVM, the default JVM (for this release, Sun SDK 1.4.1) will be installed and JRockit will not run. The other two options allow you to run WebLogic Server on a JVM you've already installed, which might or might not be JRockit.
