Netra Proxy Cache Array Configuration Guide

Alternatives for Completing Configuration

See Figure 1-2. At this point, you have finished with Step 1 in that figure. Except for initial host configuration, the remaining steps are all performed on a single host in the array. You have the following alternatives:

If you completed initial host configuration on your administrative host (see "Choosing an Administrative Host"), you can proceed as follows:

  1. On the administrative host, configure the proxy cache service as described in "Basic Proxy Cache Configuration". This section corresponds to Step 2 in Figure 1-2.

  2. On the administrative host, configure the array, as described in "Basic Array Configuration". This section corresponds to Step 3 in Figure 1-2.

  3. On the administrative host, configure array members (assigning addresses for the use of the array software), as described in "Basic Array Member Configuration". This section corresponds to Step 4 in Figure 1-2.

  4. Perform initial host configuration on the remaining hosts in the array, as described in this chapter.

Again, Step 1 in Figure 1-2.

  5. On the administrative host, install your configuration on the hosts in the array, as described in "Install Configuration". This section corresponds to Step 5 in Figure 1-2.

  6. On each host, backup your configuration, as described in "Backing Up Your Configuration". This step is not illustrated in Figure 1-2

An alternative path:

  1. Perform initial host configuration on the remaining hosts in the array, as described in this chapter.

  2. Perform Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, Step 5, and Step 6 as described above.

You perform all steps except initial host configuration and backup by interacting with web pages loaded from your administrative host.

Using either of the just-described alternatives, you conclude by configuring your enterprise DNS to delegate the zone for the Netra Proxy Cache Array to the array's DNS server, as described in "Updating the DNS".
