Many of the components in the Sun Server X2-8 use installation and removal levers. The levers assist in the removal of components by providing enough force to disengage the component from an internal connector. The levers also provide enough component server clearance to allow for easy removal by hand.
The levers assist in the installation of components by providing an evenly distributed amount of force to ensure proper engagement between the component connector and an internal connector.
The leverage is achieved through the use of a pawl on the end of the lever. For a pry point, the pawl needs to engage a slot in the sidewall. The following illustration shows an example of one type of lever and pawl used with the server.
