Previewing an asset lets you display the asset in a specified preview template to see how it will look on a Web site. For example, you can preview how an article displays with a specific stylesheet. The asset displays in a separate browser window in a template specified by the asset type; it shows any changes that you made in the current project. If you make further changes, you can preview them simply by refreshing the browser window.

The default asset types provided by ATG Content Administration do not include the Preview feature. Preview functionality is set up by an administrator according to the asset type (see “Customizing Asset Display” in the ATG Content Administration Programming Guide). For information about setting up a Web application on a BCC server to preview assets, see “Setting Up Preview Features” in the ATG Business Control Center Administration and Development Guide.

To preview an asset:

  1. Create or edit the asset, following the procedures described earlier in this chapter.

  2. From the asset’s Properties tab, click Preview.

  3. Choose the appropriate user profile.
