This section describes the graphics and imaging issues in the Oracle Solaris 11 release.
If Firefox layer acceleration was previously enabled, the bundled NVIDIA graphics driver in Oracle Solaris 11 might cause Firefox to exit. This issue occurs only when a page with Flash content is viewed. You might see the following error message:
$ firefox Abort (core dumped)
Note - Layer acceleration is disabled by default.
Workaround: Perform the following steps to disable layer acceleration:
Type about:config in the browser address bar.
Click the I'll Be Careful button on the warranty page.
In the Filter text field, type layer.
Double-click the following line to restore the default setting:
layers.acceleration.force-enabled user set boolean true
On some systems with Intel graphics adapters, the text mode console is not shown properly after the Xorg server has run. When you switch from an Xorg server to a text virtual terminal, the console is shown as vertical bars instead of readable characters.
Workaround: Disable the bitmapped console. Instead, use the VGA-mode text console.
