PeopleSoft Footprint and move to OCI

ITC Infotech moved their PeopleSoft HCM and FSCM applications from Microsoft Windows on-premises to Oracle Linux on OCI. As part of their transformation journey to OCI, ITC Infotech:

  • Upgraded to PeopleTools 8.60.10
  • Used PeopleSoft Cloud Manager to provision middle tiers on OCI.
  • Used PeopleSoft Cloud Manager for upgrading and patching PeopleTools.
  • Adopted Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), implementing it through OCI Cloud Guard.
  • Implemented user authentication for PeopleSoft using F5 APM module, federated by Azure AD.
  • Integrated application and infrastructure logs on OCI with Microsoft Sentinel Service, making it a single source for log data analytics.
  • Secured the entire application workload environment using Palo Alto firewall that was deployed through OCI marketplace image

During the upgrade, ITC Infotech leveraged PeopleSoft Cloud Manager to empower administrators with self-service tools to create, manage, and tear down environments quickly, fostering agility and faster time-to-market for new applications and updates. Cloud Manager was used to:

  • Create topologies and templates resulting in reduction of time and effort to set up new environments and automating provisioning of environments to a large extent.
  • Add and remove nodes allowing for quicker resource provisioning and tear down based on demand. This resulted in easy scalability, optimizing performance and cost efficiency.
  • Upgrade and patch PeopleTools.
  • Patch and clone CPUs.
  • Quickly create development and test instances.

Since migrating their PeopleSoft applications on to OCI, ITC Infotech has been able to:

  • Implement PeopleSoft unified navigation across HCM and FSCM that offsets the PeopleSoft portal that was implemented on-premises.
  • Use Oracle Cloud Guard to help ITC Infotech’s security team report and improve cloud security posture management of OCI.
  • Embrace new technologies available on OCI and get better performance while controlling cost.
  • Simplify disaster recovery with easy backup and restore options, ensuring business continuity and data protection.
  • Reduce the complexity and overhead of maintaining on-premises infrastructure, allowing IT teams to focus on strategic initiatives rather than routine maintenance tasks.
