Resetting the Freeze Flags (RPFF)

Purpose: Use the Reset Physical Freeze Flag function to cancel (unselect) the Physical freeze flag and the Reservation freeze flag for all item locations in a warehouse, for all the locations of a specific item in a warehouse, or for a single item location.

When you generate a physical inventory (MGPI), the Physical freeze flag for each item location is selected if the Freeze Item During Physical (A10) system control value is selected. This flag prevents the item location from being selected for another physical inventory and prevents all inventory transactions against the item location. Additionally, you can select the Reservation freeze for all included item locations to help prevent any transactions against these item locations which could cause inventory errors.

The system normally resets (unselects) the Physical freeze flag and the Reservation freeze flag for the item location (not frozen) when you process a physical inventory update or cancel a physical inventory. However, the system does not reset the flags when it encounters an inventory error as part of the update process. You might produce an inventory error if, for example, there were printed pick slips for the item location when you generated the physical inventory, and the count for the item location was less than the printed quantity. In such a case, you can use the Reset Physical Freeze Flag function to unselect the Physical freeze flag and the Reservation freeze flag for the item location.

See Physical Inventory Overview.
