About the Siebel Network Image

For each Siebel Business Applications release representing the products that you have purchased, you run the Siebel Image Creator utility to create a Siebel network image, which is also called a Siebel image. All installations of Siebel Business Applications modules must be performed from a Siebel image. The Siebel Image Creator is also called the Network Image Creator. Unless otherwise stated in documentation for a particular release, each Siebel release includes Siebel Image Creator and you use this utility to create a version-specific Siebel image.

To install all of the Siebel CRM software for Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, you require an image of a single version: Siebel CRM version 15.0. You must create any network image as described in this chapter. For Siebel Enterprise Server, Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE), Siebel Web Client, Siebel Tools, or Siebel Sample Database, create a network image for version 15.0.

Installing these modules is a one-step task. The installers perform a complete installation of the current release. Siebel CRM version 15.0 is a base release. Network images for prior releases, such as Siebel CRM version 8.1.1 or version 8.2.2, are not required or used. For existing deployments, you can use the same installers to install the current release as a migration installation.

In addition to creating a Siebel image for Siebel CRM version 15.0, you will also create Siebel images for any Siebel Patchset releases that you will install, such as version 15.1, 15.2, and so on, where available. For more information about Siebel Patchset releases, see About Siebel CRM Releases.

You must allocate disk space on the network for the Siebel images that you will use as the source location for Siebel installations. Retain all of the Siebel images until they no longer apply. Also retain all of the Siebel media files, particularly the JAR files that you use to create the Siebel images.

The Siebel image is always of application type Siebel Industry Applications. The application type Siebel Business Applications (formerly used for Siebel Cross-Industry Applications) no longer applies. For more information about the implications of this change, see 549362.1 (Article ID) and related articles on My Oracle Support. This document often refers to Siebel Business Applications in a generic way that currently means the same thing as Siebel Industry Applications.

The remaining topics in this chapter describe how to obtain the Siebel media files from Oracle and how to create a Siebel image.

About the Siebel Network Image for Oracle LDAP Client

If you will install Siebel Enterprise Server software for use with a non-Oracle database, and will use LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), then obtain the JAR files for Oracle LDAP Client and select this module when you also select Siebel Enterprise Server in Siebel Image Creator. A separate JAR file is provided for each supported server operating system, such as SBA_15.0.0.0_Base_Windows_Oracle_LDAP_Client.jar for Microsoft Windows. When you run Siebel Image Creator, the Oracle LDAP Client installer is placed into the directory Disk1\stage, under Siebel_Enterprise_Server. For example, the location might be like one of the following:

Siebel_Image\Windows\Server\Siebel_Enterprise_Server\Disk1\stage

Siebel_Image/Solaris/Server/Siebel_Enterprise_Server/Disk1/stage

When you run the Siebel Enterprise Server installer for a new installation, you can choose to include Oracle LDAP Client, which is silently installed. Or, you might install Oracle LDAP Client manually. For more information, see Requirements for Installing Oracle LDAP Client.

About the Siebel Network Image for Siebel Local Database for Siebel Tools (Using Oracle Database XE)

You can install a new local database for Siebel Tools that uses Oracle Database XE. This local database is provided with Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, Patchset 5 and later.

When you are creating the network image for the patchset release, include the corresponding Siebel media JAR file, such as SBA_15.5.0.0.0_Base_Windows_Oracle_XE_Local_Database.jar (for version 15.5). In Siebel Image Creator (for version 15.5 or later), select Oracle XE Local Database when you also select Siebel Tools. When you run Siebel Image Creator, the Oracle XE Local Database installer is placed into the following directory:

Siebel_Image\Windows\Server\Siebel_Tools\Disk1\stage

When you run the Siebel Tools installer for the patchset installation, you can choose to include the local database, which is silently installed. For more information, see Installing Oracle Database XE for the Local Database for Siebel Tools.

About the Siebel Network Image for Siebel Sample Database for Siebel Web Client (Using Oracle Database XE)

You can install a new sample database for Siebel Web Client that uses Oracle Database XE. This sample database is provided with Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, Patchset 5 and later.

When you are creating the network image for the patchset release, include the corresponding Siebel media JAR file, such as SBA_15.5.0.0.0_Base_Windows_Oracle_XE_Sample_Database.jar (for version 15.5). In Siebel Image Creator (for version 15.5 or later), select Oracle XE Sample Database when you also select Siebel Web Client. When you run Siebel Image Creator, the Oracle XE Sample Database installer is placed into the following directory:

Siebel_Image\Windows\Server\Siebel_Web_Client\Disk1\stage

When you run the Siebel Web Client installer for the patchset installation, you can choose to include the sample database, which is silently installed. For more information, see Installing the Siebel Sample Database That Uses Oracle Database XE.

About the Siebel Network Image for Siebel Sample Database (Using SAP SQL Anywhere)

For the Siebel Sample Database installer (for the database which uses SAP SQL Anywhere), the migration installation option does not apply. For an existing installation, you first uninstall the existing Siebel Sample Database from Siebel CRM version 8.1.1, version 8.2.2, or any prior Siebel CRM version 8.1.1.x or version 8.2.2.x. Then you install the Siebel Sample Database for the current version on the Siebel Mobile Web Client installation. For more information, see Installing the Siebel Sample Database That Uses SAP SQL Anywhere.

NOTE:  SAP SQL Anywhere is not available for new deployments after September 2015 and is no longer part of the product media for Siebel Innovation Pack 2015. Oracle Database XE is provided as a partial replacement in Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, Patchset 5 or later. For more detailed information on how this change affects Siebel Tools and Siebel Remote, see Siebel Release Notes on My Oracle Support for Innovation Pack 2015 (Doc ID 1996273.1). Existing customers (as noted in Siebel Release Notes) must use the version of Siebel Innovation Pack 2015 software that includes SAP SQL Anywhere and must not install software from a mix of both of these versions of Siebel Innovation Pack 2015 software. See also Installing Oracle Database XE for the Local Database for Siebel Tools and Installing the Siebel Sample Database That Uses Oracle Database XE.
