About Installing the Siebel Web Client or Siebel Tools

This chapter describes how to install Siebel Web Clients, Siebel Tools, and the Siebel Sample Database, with specified Siebel language packs. In this chapter, the term Siebel Web Client refers to either the Mobile Web Client or the Developer Web Client.

The language that the installer displays is the one that corresponds to the current regional settings on the installation client computer.

The software that is installed on the user's computer for Siebel Mobile Web Client and Developer Web Client is identical. A single installer provides the software necessary to install and run either of these Siebel Web Client types. For general information about these client types, see Siebel Deployment Planning Guide. Information in this guide about installing the Siebel Web Client refers to these two client types. (Siebel Developer Web Client installation is covered with the Siebel Mobile Web Client.)

Each Siebel Web Client is designed to be used within a single Siebel Enterprise. To support multiple Siebel Enterprises on a single computer for testing purposes, install separate Siebel client instances in separate directories.

Before installing, review all documented requirements. The specific requirements for Siebel Mobile Web Client and Siebel Developer Web Client also depend on whether you are deploying Siebel CRM applications using Siebel Open UI or high interactivity. For Siebel Open UI, see also Deploying Siebel Open UI. For high interactivity, see also the browser configuration information in Siebel System Administration Guide.

It is recommended to install the Siebel Developer Web Client with Siebel Tools. The Siebel Developer Web Client has specific requirements for connectivity to the enterprise database. For information about the relational database management systems (RDBMS) that may require installation on the Siebel client computers on which you run Siebel Developer Web Clients, see the Certifications tab on My Oracle Support. RDBMS products are not provided by Oracle; you must obtain them based on your database-connection requirements.

NOTE:  The Siebel Developer Web Client is supported for administration, development, and troubleshooting usage scenarios only.

The migration installation tasks are a new type of patch installation provided for Siebel Web Client and Siebel Tools installers for Siebel Innovation Pack 2014 and later. You perform migration installations using the same installers (for the current release) that you use for new installations. A migration installation applies settings from your existing installation to a new installation. The existing Oracle home name, installation location, installation languages, configuration data, and other settings are used for the new installation. Before the new installation is performed, the existing installation is moved to a backup location and can no longer be used.

Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, Patchset 5 or later provides the ability to install Oracle Database XE to use in the following ways:
