Configuring a Backup KDS Controller

  1. In the EMC, select the property, click Setup and KDS Controllers.
  2. Double-click the KDS Controller for which you want to assign a backup KDS Controller, and click Backup Service Host.
  3. Click Select adjacent to the Service Host field, select a backup service host from the list and click OK.
  4. Click Save.
  5. If you want the backup KDS Controller to automatically take over when the primary KDS Controller is down, click General and select 9 - Enable Backup Controller Automatic Takeover.
  6. Select the Enterprise level, click Configuration and Roles.
  7. Double-click an employee role, click Operations and PMC Procedures.
  8. Select 30057 - Backup/Restore KDS Controller, and click Save.
  9. Select the Enterprise, property, revenue center, or zone, click Configuration and Page Design.
  10. Insert a new button on the transaction page, select Function in the Type drop-down list, and select Restore Primary KDS.

    This touchscreen button allows workstation operators to activate the primary KDS Controller that the current revenue center is using when it comes back online, if the backup KDS Controller is currently active.

  11. If you did not configure the backup KDS Controller to automatically take over for the primary KDS Controller, insert another new button on the transaction page.
    1. Select Function in the Type drop-down list.
    2. Select Active Backup KDS.
  12. Click Save.
