16 Printers and Order Devices

Printers and ordering devices are critical types of hardware that allow communication between the Front of House and other areas of a restaurant, such as the kitchen and bar.

An order device generally refers to hardware used to print orders that need to be prepared, such as hot and cold items that print in the kitchen, or alcoholic beverages that print at the bar. Often an order device is a roll printer, but it may also be a Kitchen Display System (KDS) display. Remote printers and remote kitchen printers are often used interchangeably with order device.
