Configuring a KDS Display

1. In the EMC, select the property, click Setup and KDS Displays.
2. Insert a new record, enter a name for the KDS Display, and double-click the new KDS Display record.

   If you are configuring a Windows 32 KDS Display, append the prefix WSKDSD to the KDS Display name, for example, WSKDSDISPLAY1. Do not include a space between the prefix and the display name.

3. Select the KDS Controller for the display and enter the IP Address of the display.
4. Select a KDS Tool Bar and a Bump Bar.
5. Select the appropriate platform of the KDS Display:

   • If the KDS is PC-based, select 0 - PC-based.

   • If you are using an OASYS KDS Display, select 1 - SEI OASYS.

6. If you selected 1 - SEI OASYS in Step 5, select the Card ID or slot number of the SEI card in the OASYS box and the Video ID to identify the KDS Display.
7. From the Display Orientation drop-down list, select the orientation type for the display.
8. Select option 1 - Enable Item Select.
9. If the display is a Speed of Service (SOS) Display, select the appropriate options as described in the following table:

   Option	Description
   2 - Only Active Tables	Select this option to show only tables that are currently active on the display.
   3 - Dynamic Display	Select this option to turn on the Dynamic Display feature.
   4 - Display Zone	Select this option to show KDS zones (collection points) on the display. This option only becomes active if you select 3 - Dynamic Display.
   5 - Display Rvc Separator	Select this option to separate orders by revenue center. This option only becomes active if you select 3 - Dynamic Display.

10. Click the Display tab.
11. Configure the Display Screen Options as described in the following table:

    Table 16-7 KDS Display Screen Options

    Field	Description
    Display Type	Select the type of KDS Display: 1 - SOS 2 - Expo 3 - Prep
    Tool Bar Positions	If you selected the Platform Type PC-based in Step 5, select the tool bar location on the display.
    Panels	Select the number of panels or logical monitors you want to appear on the display. A KDS Display can contain one or two panels to allow various order devices to print to a different section of the display. The left side represents hot items and the right side represents cold items.
    Panel Layout	If you selected 2 from the Panel drop-down list, select whether the panels appear side-by-side or one on top of the other.

12. Configure the order chit appearance in the display as described in the following table:

    Fields	Description
    KDS Chit Layout Style	Select the type of layout for the order chits on the display. Depending on the chit layout style that you select, the Order Type Font drop-down list becomes active. If you want to preview the chit layout styles, click Help adjacent to theKDS Chit Layout Style drop-down list, and select the chit style you want to view.
    Serpentine Mode	Select the arrangement of order chits on the display: If you want incoming orders to appear starting from the top left corner, filling the first column, then spilling into the top of the next column, and so on, select 0 - TSR. TSR Mode only works on PC-based clients. If you want incoming orders to appear from left to right, row by row, starting from the top left corner and moving across, select 1 - Horizontal. If you want incoming orders to appear starting from the bottom right corner, moving up and then moving to the left, select 2 - Vertical.
    Menu Item Font	Select the font size for menu items to appear on the display.
    Order Type Font	Select the font size for the Order Type text to appear on the display.
    Chit Columns	Enter the number of columns to use on the display for order chits.
    Chit Rows	If you selected Horizontal or Vertical from the Serpentine Mode drop-down list, select the number of rows to use on the display for order chits.

13. If the display is an SOS Display:
    1. In the Table Columns field, enter the number of columns to use to present table numbers for the SOS Table Display.
    2. In the SOS Timeout field, enter the amount of time the kitchen staff can view a table in the regular Expo Display screen before the display returns to the SOS Table Display.
    3. If you selected 3 - Dynamic Display in Step 9 for the SOS Display, configure the following settings:

       Field	Description
       SOS Zone Font	Select the font size for SOS zones to appear on the display. Oracle Hospitality recommends using values between 10 and 12.
       SOS Sort Method	Select the sort method for the display: If you want to sort by table number, select 0 - Sort by Table Number. If you want to sort by the elapsed time of the oldest order on the table from oldest to newest, select 1 - Sort Oldest to Newest. You must deselect 5 - Display Rvc Separator. If you want to sort by the elapsed time of the oldest order on the table from newest to oldest, select 2 - Sort Newest to Oldest. You must deselect 5 - Display Rvc Separator.
       Min Table State	This field is not supported.
       Max Table State	This field is not supported.

14. If you want to set each column on the KDS Recall and Review list, click Recall/Review List, select the Column Type to display on Column 1 to Column 6, and enter the Width for each column relative to the total screen width.
15. If you want to specify which production items show on the KDS Display:
    1. Click the Production Item tab.
    2. From the KDS Production Location drop-down list, select where to place the production items on the display.

       • If you want production items to appear above the order chit, select 1 - Top.

       • If you want production items to appear below the order chit and above the KDS toolbar (if used), select 2 - Bottom.

    3. From the KDS Production Columns drop-down list, select the number of production items that you want to show per line or production bar. When possible, the KDS displays the maximum number of items in each bar. If there are not enough items to fill the last bar, the remaining items are evenly distributed across the line.
    4. In the Production Items section, click Add and select a production item to appear on the KDS. Repeat this step until all of the production items to display on the KDS appear in the list.
16. Click Save.
