Remarks on program function

The data for chip cards is updated, i.e. programmed, changed or cleared, with this program. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed for information.

Remarks on data fields

The following description deals with all available options for update of this basic data.

As with nearly all programs the following also applies here:

The entry mask for this program may differ in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program. Some data fields may be missing.
There may be defaults or firmly defined selection options for some data fields. These cannot be updated in the current program.
Fields with enforced entry defined are to be found in the entry masks as are fields where entry is optional.
If the data record is updated over several pages of entry masks, the dialog window is reached by clicking onto the appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
The same procedure also applies to call up of another update program from this program.
In some cases you may find so-called "Switches" which are activated or deactivated by the user with <Mouse key 1>, depending on the setting. Activated switches have a dark top, deactivated switches are lighter.

Key

Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 999

NOTE:
This field will only be evaluated if the option Chip card reader has been activated for the ADS keyboard.

The key to be evaluated should be entered here. In MICROS Retail OSCAR POS Version 1.6 only chip cards which have a data block with this code can be evaluated. The default value is 96 (=060). Other values may be relevant for cards with project-specific implications.

Note:
When chip cards are in use the card reader parameters in program Application -> Organisation -> Branch -> Card reader parameter have to be updated so that the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program can read the data of the card and can execute the appropriate function in the POS terminal.

Event

Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.

Enter the name of the keyboard event which is to be activated when the card is read (e.g. for customer no. = fCUST).

ASCII-BIN convert

Field with firmly defined selection options

Note:
This field is only evaluated if the option chip card reader has been activated for the ADS keyboard.

Selection is done by clicking onto the field and with a second click choosing the type of ASCII conversion required.

The system offers the following options:

Conversion = The values on the card are transferred in hexadecimal ASCII
No convert = The values of the chip card are transferred as stored on the card. In this case the value 0x00 should not appear in the data block.
Check = The driver checks whether control characters or values outside the 7-bit character table are in the data block. If this is the case, conversion will be done automatically, otherwise it will not be done.

Note:
Please note that when chip cards are used, the card reader parameter should be updated in program Application -> Organisation -> Branch -> Card reader parameter so that the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program can read the data of the card and the appropriate function can be executed at the POS terminal.

Prefix

Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.

Note:
This field is only evaluated if the option chip card reader has been activated for the ADS keyboard.

The data which identifies the chip card with the card reader parameter should be entered in this field. This can be either a self-defined character chain which should match the entry in field "Simulated key" in program Card reader parameter or this field can be left empty. If the data of the chip card is known, the data can be used for card recognition in update program Card reader parameter in field "Compare with".

When chip cards are used, the card reader parameters in update program Application -> Organisation -> Branch -> Card reader parameter have to be updated so that the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program can read the data on the card and that the appropriate functions can be carried out on the POS terminal.
