Remarks on the Program Function

By use of this program you can maintain the data for an IP interface, i.e. create new records, modify or delete existing data. You can also view already stored data for information purposes.


Remarks on the Input Fields

This paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating these basic data

Just like in almost any other program:


System Unit

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 9999

Enter the number of the process unit to which this IP interface is/ is to be assigned. The name of the system unit will be displayed on the right. Without this assignment, no IP interface can be set up.


Interface

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 99

Enter the number of the interface.


Descriptor

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max.20 chars.

Enter a name for the interface.


IP Address

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 20 chars.

Enter the IP address (e.g. 132.147.190.1).

Please note that the IP address depends on the selected network class.

Class A = (Netmask: 255.0.0.0)
Addresses beginning with values < 128: First position: Network address, Rest: Sub-address.

Class B = (Netmask: 255.255.0.0)
Addresses beginning with values >= 128 and < 192: First and second position: Network address, Rest: Sub-address.

Class C = (Netmask: 255.255.255.0)
Addresses beginning with values >= 192: First three positions: Network address, last position: Sub-address.


WAN

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 9999

Enter the number of the WAN (Wide Area Network) to which this IP interface is/ is to be assigned. The name of the WAN will be displayed on the right. Without this assignment, no IP interface can be set up.
