Remarks on the Program Function

Similar to the organizational structure of a company, the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application has also to be structured, not the least for logical and programming technical reasons.

Before the system can be utilized, the structure has to be set up. How the structure and the levels are to be defined, depends on the set-up of the company.

The graphics SB Sector or Hospitality sector shows the hierarchical structure. From the graphic, it can be seen in which sequence the structuring process should be carried out. If a level has to be assigned to a higher level, this higher level has to be already defined in the system. Despite this, the following can also be carried out: by clicking the button with the mouse, the corresponding maintenance program can be executed and the higher organization level can be created.

The license of the user is the highest level in the system's hierarchical structure. What has to be defined for this level depends only on the organizational structure of the company. The setting up of this record is compelling. Without a license, no companies can be created, and consequently neither "Branch", nor "Profit Centers", nor "Terminals" can be created.

Since there can be only one license record in the system, this is normally set up by the system support personnel during the initial installation of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application System. So when the "License" program is initiated from the menu, only modifications can be made. This applies also to the case when the input mask appears to be empty during run time.

Note:

• The license record cannot be deleted. However, entries of all the input fields can be deleted, if desired.

Remarks on the Input Fields

This paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating these Basic Data.

Just like in almost any other program:

• The Input Mask may be different in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the application. In some cases some Data Fields may be missing.
• Some input fields may contain default values or defined selection options; these cannot be updated.
• The input mask contains some fields that require an entry and others in which entries are optional.
• If the data record is updated via multi-page input masks, go to the Dialog Window by clicking on the appropriate buttons with <Mouse key 1>.
• The same procedure applies to call up another update program from this program.
• In some cases you may find that so-called "Switches" which - depending on the default - can be activated or deactivated with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches are identified by their dark color, deactivated switches are lighter-colored.

Short Name

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max 8 characters

Here an abbreviated name is to be entered. This is normally done during the initial installation of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS system. This entry is for information only.

Name

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max 32 characters

Here is the name of the user. This is for information only.

Address 1

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max 32 characters

This the first address line, e.g. house number and name of the street. The sequence or contents of entry of the address lines is arbitrary. The entry is for information only.

Address 2

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max 32 characters

This the second address line, e.g. PO Box number. The sequence or contents of entry of the address lines is arbitrary. The entry is for information only.
