Modification of basic data
The modification of already existing data in the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application is to be carried out with various Update Programs. Update programs are started directly from the Program Dispatch via the existing buttons or from one of the various menus in the dispatch or from the menus of other update programs. Furthermore, update programs can be started via appropriate buttons in the corresponding code programs.
Modification of existing data
In order to modify data of an already existing data record, you have to call up the data record by use of the appropriate update program by at least entering the data of the primary keys. The data record key consists of a unique identification number that is composed of one or more numbers such as e.g. the company number or the item number.
Primary keys characterize a record as being unique. In the corresponding input masks of the update programs, the primary keys are marked by bold type (e.g. company, item no. etc. – not descriptor).
Every data record has a particular condition (status) during the processing.
In the input mask of an update program, the current Status of the current data record would be displayed in the bottom section of the input mask.
After the data record has been called up, the status area displays the message Status: Unchanged.
As soon as you have modified the data in one of the related input fields, the status message Changed will be displayed.
Click
on the button 
(Store) to save the modifications
permanently.
When leaving or de-selecting the data record, you will be asked whether to store or to discard the changes.
Click OK to save the data record
changes in the database. If you click on “Discard”, the changes will be undone
and you will leave the update program.
Click on the Cancel button to keep the program open in order to make some other changes to this data record.
