Chapter 15: Working with Prep Codes (WPRC)

Purpose: Use the Work with Prep Codes menu option to set up codes you can assign to items or SKUs to indicate any special handling or preparation required in the warehouse. Although this field is informational only within CWDirect, you can use it for reporting or to pass in an interface.

You assign a prep code to an item at the SKU level. The Prep code field appears on any of the second Create/Change/Display Item screens.

Work with Prep Code Screen

How to display this screen: Enter WPRC in the Fast path field at the top of any menu or select Work with Prep Codes from a menu.

Field	Description
Prep code	This code identifies an item's or SKU's special handling or processing requirements within the warehouse; informational only. Alphanumeric, 2 positions; optional.
Description	The description of the prep code. Alphanumeric, 40 positions; optional.

Screen Option	Procedure
Create a new prep code	Press F6 to advance to the Create Prep Code Screen.
Change a prep code description	Enter 2 next to a prep code to advance to the Change Prep Code Screen.
Delete a prep code	Enter 4 next to a prep code to delete it.
Display a prep code	Enter 5 next to a prep code to advance to the Display Prep Code Screen.

Create Prep Code Screen

Purpose: Use thus screen to create a new prep code.

How to display this screen: Press F6 at the Work with Prep Code Screen.

Change Prep Code Screen

To change: Enter 2 next to a code at the Work with Prep Code Screen to advance to the Change Prep Code screen. At this screen, you can change only the prep code description. See Create Prep Code Screen for field descriptions.

Display Prep Code Screen

To display: Enter 5 next to a prep code at the Work with Prep Code Screen to advance to the Display Prep Code screen. You cannot change any information on this screen. See Create Prep Code Screen for field descriptions.
