Chapter 36: Working with Inventory Resets

Purpose: Use the following inventory options to reset quantities when inventory levels become out-of-sync due to system problems:

• Reset Allocation Quantities

• Reset Reserve Quantity

• Reset Backorder Quantity

If there are inventory transaction errors: The system will not complete any of these resets if there are any inventory transaction errors. You must reprocess these transactions or delete the error records first. See Warehousing Chapter 14: Working with Inventory Transaction Errors (WITE).

Pick Control Detail and Pick Location file.

Otherwise, the system generates the Print Reset Audit Log and resets the printed quantities in the Order Detail, Reserved Order Line, or Item Location file(s) as needed.

Reset Reserve Quantity (MRQR)

Purpose: Use this option to reset the reserved quantity of items in inventory, as stored in the Item Warehouse file. The system uses the information in the Reserved Order Line file to determine the correct quantities of items reserved on open or held orders.

Note: You can also run this reset by creating and running a periodic function, such as INV_RES, that uses the MSR0698 program.

Purpose: Enter MRQR in the Fast path field at the top of any menu, or select Reset Reserve Quantity from a menu.

Otherwise, the system resets the reserved quantities in the Item Warehouse file.

Reset Backorder Quantity (MRBO)

Purpose: Use this option to reset the backorder quantity of items in inventory, as stored in the Item Warehouse file.

The system resets the backordered quantities in the Item Warehouse file based on the totals in the Order Detail file, including order lines that are held. When evaluating the totals in the Order Detail file, the system ignores any order detail line flagged as a future order.

Field

Description

Warehouse

The warehouse whose backorder quantities you want to reset. Leave this field blank to reset all warehouses.

Note: If you do not also specify an item, the job resets all warehouses and all items.

Warehouses are defined in and validated against the Warehouse file.

Numeric, 3 positions; optional.

Item

The item whose backorder quantity you want to reset. Leave this field blank to reset all items.

Items are defined in and validated against the Item file.

Alphanumeric, 12 positions; optional.

SKU

The particular SKU of the item you want to reset. You must specify a SKU if you selected a SKU’d item, above.

The SKU field appears as a single, 14-position field even if you use a split SKU; in this situation, leave a space between each SKU element.

Alphanumeric, 14 positions; required if you selected a SKU’d item.

B/O qty (Backorder quantity)

The backorder quantity of the selected item/SKU within the selected warehouse. This quantity appears after you press Enter only if you complete the previous fields (including the SKU, if you selected a SKU’d item), and only if the item is backordered.

Numeric, 7 positions; display-only.

Completing this screen: When you confirm submission of the reset, the system submits the RESETBOQTY job. If there are any inventory transaction errors, this job generates an error report indicating that the reset cannot take place until these errors are corrected; see Warehousing Chapter. Otherwise, the system generates the Reset Audit Log for Item Warehouse and resets the backordered quantities in the Item Warehouse file based on the totals in the Order Detail file. When evaluating the totals in the Order Detail file, the system ignores any order detail line flagged as a future order.

Reset Item Warehouse Quantity On Hand (MRIW)

Purpose: Use this option to reset the quantity on-hand for each Item Warehouse record based on the total quantities on-hand for related Item Locations within the warehouse.

Example: The Item Warehouse record indicates that the current on-hand quantity for item AB100 in warehouse 10 is 100. There are two item location records for AB100 in warehouse 10: A010101, with a current on-hand quantity of 15; and BULK, with a current on-hand quantity of 100. This reset adds the on-hand quantities for the two item locations and resets the on-hand quantity for the Item Warehouse to 115 (100 + 15).

How to display this screen: Enter MRIW in the Fast path field at the top of any menu, or select Reset Item Warehouse Quantity On Hand from a menu.
