Chapter 50: Creating Item Labels (PILB)

Purpose: Use Print Item Labels to print an Item Label for miscellaneous movement of items in stock.

Create Item Labels Screen

Purpose: Use this screen to:

• define the item/SKU you wish to move

• the warehouse and location where you wish to place the item

• the quantity of the item/SKU you wish to move

• the number of labels you wish to print

When you print an Item Label, the system prints an informational label indicating the movement; the system does not update the inventory quantity for the item in the warehouse/location.

Important: You need to have a program specified in the Customer Return Label Print Program (D35) system control value in order to print item labels. If this system control value is blank, you will not receive an error message; however, the item label will not print.

How to display this screen: Enter PILB in the Fast path field or select Print Item Labels from a menu.

Warehouse codes are defined in and validated against the Warehouse file.

The system defaults the primary primary location defined for the item in the SKU file if the warehouse defined in the Warehouse field is the same warehouse where the primary primary location is located.

If the system cannot find a primary primary location for the warehouse defined, the system displays the message: Location not found.

If the system defaults the item's primary primary location, the system displays the message: Location defaulted. Press <ENTER> to accept.

Location codes are defined in and validated against the Location file.

The location code is a 7-position code typically comprised of:
