Chapter 49: Transferring Items (LTFR)
Purpose: Use Location Transfer to transfer the entire quantity of an item from one primary location to another in the warehouse.
The location you are transferring the item to becomes the item's "primary primary" location. A "primary primary" location is the first primary location the system searches when performing any action dealing with inventory. The "primary primary" location is stored in the Primary loc (Primary location) field in the SKU file.
In this chapter:
• Warning about Conflicting Jobs
• Transfer Item's Primary Location Screen
• Create Item Location for Transfer Screen
Warning about Conflicting Jobs
A warning pop-up window displays automatically when you select this option if Pick Slip Generation or Location Replenishment is active (in the Active Procedures file).
Active Procedure Warning
Pick Slip Generation is active.
Press ENTER to continue.
F12=Cancel |
Active Procedure Warning
Replenishment is active.
Press ENTER to continue.
F12=Cancel |
Reason: The warning pop-up window appears because each of these options affect inventory at the location level in the warehouse, as does the current option you are trying to use.
Responding to the Warning: Press Enter to use the option anyway or press F12 to perform the location transfer at a later time when the other jobs are finished running.
Note: The warning pop-up window(s) displays again if you entered a location transfer. You can press Enter to continue or F12 to wait to process the transaction until the conflicting job has finished.
Transfer Item's Primary Location Screen
Purpose: Use this screen to transfer an existing item's primary location. This screen:
• updates the "primary primary" in the SKU record
• moves all the inventory from the original location to the new location
How to display this screen: Enter LTFR in the Fast path field at the top of any menu or select Location Transfer from a menu.
