Use this page to manage the email templates defined for the site.
There are three types of email templates:
Transactional - These templates are used for emails that are sent to visitors of the site based on the transactions they do while on the site. Examples of these include:
Contact Us Auto-Response
Email a Friend
Forgot Your Password
Gift Certificate - Purchaser
Gift Certificate - Recipient
Loyalty - Welcome New Members
Order Cancellation
Order Confirmation
Share Wish List
Validate Email
Experience Manager - These templates are used within the Experience Manager section of the Site Manager. These emails are used within experiences to communicate information to a visitor based on the goal of the experience. Examples of these include:
Abandoned Cart
Check Order Status
Email Discount
Items in Wish List
Order Follow Up
Contact Us - These templates are used for emails that are sent to the customer service email address for the site. Examples of these include:
Locate Products
My Account
Orders, Returns or Exchanges
Product Information Questions
Suggestions or Comments
Website Technical Questions
The type of email sent depends on the content provided in Site Manager.
If an email template has both HTML and Text content defined, the system sends the email in multipart format, including both HTML and text content in the email.
If an email template has only HTML content defined, the system sends the email only in HTML format.
If an email template has only text content defined, the system sends the email only in text format.
Select the type of email template you are editing in the "Template Type" drop-down list box. Valid values are Experience Manager, Transactional, and Contact Us.
If you selected "Transactional" or "Contact Us" as the template type and you are administering multiple sites, select the site the email template is associated with in the "Site" drop-down list box. A list of email templates will appear at the bottom of the page.
Follow the "To find an email template" instructions above.
Select the "Edit" icon to the right of the template you wish to edit.
If your site is an international site, select the language of the template you wish to edit.
If your site is an international site, select the country associated with the template you wish to edit.
Enter a new subject for the email in the "Subject" text field.
Enter a different source for the email in the "From" text field. If a From address is not defined for the email template, the system uses the from address defined in the custserv.email site parameter.
Select the "HTML Body Contents" tab header to modify the HTML version of the email. You may use HTML markup tags to format the content. If you wish to use email tokens in the body, see a list of available tokens here.
Select the "Text Body Contents" tab header to modify the text version of the email. Do not use any HTML markup tags for the text content. If you wish to use email tokens in the body, see a list of available tokens here.
Select "Preview" to preview your changes.
Select "Save" to save your changes.
Note: When creating a new email template, the system verifies that an email template does not already exist with the same Template Type, Template Name, and locale.
Select "Experience Manager" in the "Template Type" drop-down list box. The page will redraw.
Enter a name for the template in the "New Template Name" text field. The New Template Name field is alphanumeric, up to 30 positions, and required to create a new email template.
Select "Create Template". The page will redraw.
If your site is an international site, select the language the template will be created in.
If your site is an international site, select the country the template will be associated with.
Enter a subject for the email in the "Subject" text field.
Enter the source of the email in the "From" text field. If a From address is not defined for the email template, the system uses the from address defined in the custserv.email site parameter.
Select the "HTML Body Contents" tab header.
Enter the HTML body content of the email. You may use HTML markup tags to format the content. If you wish to use email tokens in the body, see a list of available tokens here.
Select the "Text Body Contents" tab header.
Enter the text body content of the email. Do not use any HTML markup tags for the text content. If you wish to use email tokens in the body, see a list of available tokens here.
Select "Preview" to preview the body content. The page will redraw and you will see tabs for the HTML and Text versions of the email body.
Select "HTML Version" to preview the HTML version of the email.
Select "Text Version" to preview the text version of the email.
Select "X" in the upper right-hand corner to close the preview when done. The page will redraw and you will return to the previous page.
Select "Save" to save your changes.
Click Clone next to the email template you wish to clone.
The system creates a copy of the email template, naming the clone Copy_2EmailTemplateName, where 2 is the number of clones that exist for the email template, and EmailTemplateName is the name of the email template that was cloned.
Select Edit for the cloned email template to change any of the information for the cloned email template; see To edit an email template above for instructions.
Follow the "To find an email template" instructions above.
Select the "Delete" icon to the right of the template you wish to remove.
