Cette erreur se produit lors de l'initialisation d'un système Oracle Solaris avec le pseudo-périphérique conservé en mémoire (par exemple, lorsque le système tente une récupération à partir d'un pool d'initialisation défectueux). L'archive d'initialisation sur l'environnement d'initialisation cible n'est peut-être pas synchronisée. Le service SMF de l'archive d'initialisation recréera automatiquement l'archive, puis redémarrera. Au lieu de se réinitialiser à partir du pool d'initialisation, le système tente par erreur de se réinitialiser à partir du périphérique conservé en mémoire (désormais inexistant). Cette situation provoque l'échec de la réinitialisation et l'utilisateur revient à l'invite ok.
Pour que cette condition se produise, deux situations sont requises :
L'archive d'initialisation sur l'environnement d'initialisation cible n'est pas synchronisée.
Le système s'initialise avec une archive d'initialisation stockée dans la mémoire conservée après une initialisation à partir de l'image de secours stockée sur le processeur de service (boot alias 'fallback-miniroot' OpenBoot).
Si cette condition se produit, l'erreur suivante s'affiche :
