General Ledger Interface Summary
Purpose: Use this report to review the total amounts posted to each general ledger account, including the entity, division, and journal source, during a range of dates.
This report does not break out postings based on the dates when they occurred. See the Print General Ledger Interface Report for a listing of postings broken out by date.
Report sort: This report sorts in alphanumeric order by entity, division, and journal source.
How to print: Select Print at the Print General Ledger Interface Screen with the Print Summary flag selected.
For more information: See the sample report in PDF format. Also, see Displaying the General Ledger Interface (DGLI) for background on the information included in this report.
Note: This report is also available as a .csv (comma-separated value) file, which you can open in a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel®. See Reports Available in CSV (Spreadsheet) Format for more information.
Contents:
• Date Range: The Start date and End date selected at the Print General Ledger Interface Screen
• Entity: The code and description of the business entity where the transactions posted. See Working with Entities (WENT).
• Division: A code representing a group within a business entity. You must define at least one division for each entity. You define G/L numbers for sales, returns, freight, taxes and additional charges in the Division table. See Working with Divisions (WDIV).
• Journal Source: The description of the transaction that caused the posting. See the Journal source field description at the Display G/L Interface Details Screen for a list of valid values.
• G/L #: The G/L account number to which the transaction should post. See Working with G/L Accounts (WGLA), for more information on the G/L account number, and see General Ledger Overview for more information on how the system uses G/L numbers for posting to the G/L Interface table.
• Description: The description of the G/L account number, as set up through Working with G/L Accounts (WGLA). Might be truncated from 30 characters to 29 or fewer, depending on the overall width of the letters that make up the description (for example, a W is wider than an I).
• Debit: The total amount of the debit posting for the journal source and G/L account number for the selected date range.
• Credit: The total amount of the debit posting for the journal source and G/L account number for the selected date range.
• Final totals: Total debit and credit amounts to post for the date range on the report.
• Out of balance: The amount by which the General Ledger Interface table is out of balance for all journal sources for the selected range of dates.
Resolving an out-of-balance discrepancy: The General Ledger Interface table might be out of balance for a particular journal source because:
• the G/L numbers are set up incorrectly
• the G/L numbers are not defined
• there are incomplete transactions for the journal source
See Printing the General Ledger Control Report (PGLC) for a discussion on how to resolve an out-of-balance situation.
