Advanced transform operations

More advanced transforms such as creating geo heirarchy attributes, extracting entities or phrases, managing null values and so on are listed on the Advanced tab of the Transform page.

• Obtaining geocode information from attribute values
  You can create a full set of geocode attributes (country, region, subregion, etc.) based on any String attribute that has partial address information. The full set of geocode attributes allows you to display the geographic information in a Thematic Map.
• Extracting parts of a date from attribute values
  You can extract date patterns from a Date Time attribute and use that information to create a new attribute or overwrite an existing attribute.
• Extracting names of people, places, or organizations from attribute values
  The Entity Extraction transformation searches attributes for names of people, places, or organizations. The resulting attribute contains a delimited list of the found entities. If the transformation does not find any entities, the resulting attribute is empty.
• Extracting key phrases from attribute values
  The Extract key phrases transform extracts key phrases from a String attribute and creates a list of phrases in a new multi-assign attribute. The transform calculates key phrases using the TF/IDF algorithm, which takes the total number of times each term appears within the String and offsets that value by the number of times it appears within a larger body of work.
• Providing a whitelist to extract terms from attribute values
  If you know the exact words you want to extract from an attribute, then you can use the Tag from Whitelist transformation to extract them and create a new attribute. You can also extract them, replace them with another term, and create a new attribute.
• Binning numeric attribute values
  The binning transformation takes values for a numeric attribute and groups them into bins. The bins are then used as the values of a new attribute.
• Grouping attribute values
  Grouping attribute values takes the attribute values and puts them into groups, with each group given a unique name.
• Managing null values
  The Manage null values transformation replaces null values for an attribute.
