Are all dashboards and reports from Classic Insight available in Insight?

Oracle Eloqua developed dashboards are available from the Dashboards area of Oracle Eloqua. All dashboards that were available in Classic Insight will be available from the new Dashboards area with the exception of the Benchmarking dashboard. There are currently no plans to transition the Benchmarking dashboard. New dashboards will also be created and will provide new visualizations of your data. Stay up to date with changes by joining the Eloqua Insiders group on Topliners.

Some reports that were available in Classic Insight were separated or combined in Insight. This was done to improve overall performance, but you can still access the same metrics in Insight. Explore the reports catalog in Insight to find a complete list of reports. Learn more about some of the common reports.

Does Insight have pre-populated time frames available from report prompts?

In most email subject areas, you can use the Time Span column prompt to provide the pre-populated time frame options. This option will be available in additional subject areas in a future release. Stay up to date with changes by joining the Eloqua Insiders group on Topliners.

Analyzers can develop a custom analysis that achieves relative date ranges by using SQL statements. For example, the following formula can be applied to a date field to return data from the last 60 days.

TimestampAdd (SQL_TSI_DAY, -60 , CURRENT_DATE)

What can a user with the reporter role do in Insight?

Insight is powered by Oracle BI EE which is a different platform than what powered Classic Insight. Although Oracle Eloqua provides the reporter and analyzer roles familiar to Classic Insight users, the functionality available for the reporter role is fundamentally different than Classic Insight.

The reporter role allows users to run reports, export reports, manipulate report columns (such as filtering and sorting), and create agents. If reporter user needs to further manipulate a report, they can export the report and manipulate it in Microsoft Excel. To understand the features available to users with reporter roles, review Getting started with Insight.

How do I find out what role I have in Insight?

In Insight, click your user name in the menu bar to display your account settings. Click the Roles and Catalog Groups tab to view your role assignment. The BI Consumer Role is the reporter role. BI Author Role is the analyzer role. Learn more about Insight users and permissions.

Can users with the reporter role schedule reports?

In Insight, subscription and email services are provided by agents. Yes, all Insight users can create and run agents. Learn more about Creating Insight agents.

What level of granularity is the data in Insight?

Insight stores data at the day level. This means that you can drill down to data from a single specific day, but not down to the hour.

How often is the data updated in Insight?

Typically, it can take up to 24 hours before you see the most recent data in Insight. Insight data is stored at the day level and is refreshed every few hours. This spreads the processing throughout the day.

Certain data may take longer. For example, the device metrics included in the Email Open subject area is provided by a third party and can take up to a few days to populate all records.

What time zone is used for Insight data?

Oracle Eloqua stores all data in Eastern Time and Insight uses the same data. Although you can change your time zone in Insight, the Insight data will not change. It will always display Eastern Time. This knowledge base article provides more information on Oracle Eloqua and time zone. Learn more about the time zone of Insight reports, agent schedules, and the Insight server.

What is the time zone of Insight reports, agent schedules, and the Insight server?

All insight data is in Eastern Time and reflects daylight savings time. The time zone of your Insight account (User name > My Account) is used for:

  • The scheduled time of agents.
  • The generated time of an analysis.
  • The time on which objects in catalog are created, modified, and accessed.

Custom SQL formulas that use calendar date/time functions are evaluated against the Insight server time zone, which is Universal Time (UTC). For example, CURRENT_DATE or CURRENT_TIME will reflect the date or time of the Insight server.

What are the export limits in Insight?

Why are aggregated unique metrics different in Insight?

Columns containing unique metrics are totaled in Insight differently than in Classic Insight. Unique metrics are metrics such as unique clickthrough, unique visitors, unique form submissions, and so on.

Instead of calculating the total value by adding up all cells in a column, Insight recalculates uniqueness across the column. So, a unique clickthrough in a single campaign is not the same as a unique clickthrough across multiple campaigns. This change in Insight provides you a more accurate calculation.

In the following image, you can see that the total Unique Opens and total Unique Clickthroughs are not simply adding up all the values in the column. Whereas the other column totals are calculated by adding all column values.

Note:

Oracle Eloqua tracks and stores the following automatic engagement metrics separately from those generated by an actual email contact:

  • Auto-opens and clicks by email scanning tools
  • Apple email privacy auto-opens

How does contact security impact reports in Insight?

If your organization uses contact security, any contact related report in Insight is limited to the contacts that a user can access. For example, a campaign report will show data related to all campaign members. If you then drill through to a report that includes contact details, you will see only those contacts that you can access. This could result in differences between reports and between users. Dashboards also behave the same way.

Contact your administrator for more information on the contact security implementation at your organization. Learn more about contact security.

Why do I receive Error 403--Forbidden when I open Insight?

This might be because you previously had open Insight sessions. Try the following:

  • Close all browser windows
  • Open a new browser window
  • Login to Eloqua and try opening Insight again

Do the folder paths support non-ASCII characters?

The folder paths only support ASCII characters. Ensure that you do not use any non-ASCII characters when creating folder paths.
