Troubleshooting File System Management

Here are some issues you may run into while managing your file system.

  • Access to File System Denied to Certain Users
  • Cannot Delete VCN - Mount Target VNIC Still Attached
  • Cannot Unmount a File System: Device is Busy
  • Deleted Snapshots Still Appear in DF Output
  • DF Operation Reports File System as 100% Used (0% Free)
  • DF Operation and Utilization Values Don't Reflect Recent File Deletions
  • File System Resources Aren't Visible in the Console
  • File System Appears Empty After Instance Reboot
  • Input/output Error When Listing Snapshots
  • Operations on a File System Fail With Error: 37: No Locks Available
  • Metadata Operations Such as ls -l, du, or find are Slow
  • Mounted File System No Longer Accessible
  • Mount Fails With USE -NOLOCK Error After Instance Reboot
  • Presence of .nfsxxxxxxxxxx Files
  • Removing File Locks from a Host that is No Longer Available
  • Removing Snapshots With RM -RF Fails
  • RSYNC is Slow When Copying Files
  • Copying Files from Region to Region Using RSYNC or FPSYNC is Slow
  • On-Premises Transfers to File Storage Are Slow
  • Showmount Command Fails
  • Symbolic Links (Symlinks) Produce Errors
  • 409 Error Occurs When Creating or Moving a File System or Mount Target
