Creating a Statement Definition

Access the Revise Statement Definitions form.

Statement Definition Name

An alphanumeric string that defines the name of a statement definition. In addition to using this name in the Statement Definitions program, the system uses this name along with the version name when you associate data selection with a statement version.

Spaces and certain special characters are not allowed in the definition name. See Statement Definition Names and Descriptions.

Statement Definition Description

An alphanumeric string for the description of the statement definition.

Certain special characters are not allowed in the definition description. See Statement Definition Names and Descriptions.

Definition Status

A user-defined code (09/SM) that indicates whether a financial statements component definition is active, a work in progress, or inactive. This code serves as an informational message; no validations are applied. Blank is not a valid value.

The list shows the descriptions of the codes in the 09/SM UDC table. Values are:

Work In Progress

Active

Inactive

When you add a statement definition, the system completes this field with the default value of Work in Progress.

Number of Columns

A value that identifies the number of column definitions to display in the grid. The minimum number of column definitions is one and the maximum number is 25.

You can change the number of columns to a lower number to make it easier to view all of the fields in the grid. The number that you enter is retained only as long as you remain on the Revise Statement Definitions form. As with other JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications, you can set up a personal grid that the system uses every time you access the Revise Statement Definitions form.

Row Definition Name

The row definition name saved to the OVFS Row Definitions Setup table (F09310) when the row definition was created. You can select a row definition from a Search and Select form by using the visual assist icon in the Row Definition Name field.

Row Definition Description

The row definition description saved to the OVFS Row Definitions Setup table (F09310) when the row definition was created. You can change the description in the Section Description field, but you cannot change it in the Row Definition Description field.

Line Number

A unique numeric value for each line in the statement definition. The system assigns the line number unless you enter one. All line numbers in a statement definition must be unique, even across different sections. For example, the system does not allow a line number 3 in two different sections.

Column Definition Name

The column definition name saved to the OVFS Column Definition Setup table (F09320) when the column definition was created. You can select a column definition from a Search and Select form by using the visual assist icon in the Column Definition Name field.

Column Definition Description

The column definition description that was saved to the OVFS Column Definition Setup table (F09320) when the column definition was created. You cannot change this value.

Section Number

An identifier to group row definitions into sections within a statement definition. Row definitions with the same section number are displayed together in a financial statement. The system assigns a new section number to each row definition that you add to a statement definition unless you enter a section number.

You can group into a section only row definitions with the same parameters. For example, if the first row definition that you add to a section is a data with grouping elements, then all row definitions in the section must be data with grouping elements, all grouping elements must be the same, and the setting for the Enable Level of Detail Rollup and Included GLG AAI Item Number check boxes must be the same in all row definitions in the section.

The system applies additional validations to the row and column definitions within a section. See Validations for Sections in Statement Definitions

Section Description

An alphanumeric string for the description of the section.

The system retrieves the row description of the first row definition added to the section as the description of the section. You can change the section description. Each row within a section has the same section description. The descriptions for each different section in a statement definition must be unique.

Section Number From

The beginning section number of the range of section numbers that you specify for a subtotal row definition when you add a subtotal row definition to a statement definition.

The system applies validations to this field. See Using Subtotal Row Definitions

The system enables this field for subtotal row definitions only.

Section Number Thru

The ending section number of the range of section numbers that you specify for a subtotal row definition when you add a subtotal row definition to a statement definition.

The system applies validations to this field. See Using Subtotal Row Definitions

The system enables this field for subtotal row definitions only.

Include Subtotals

An option that informs the system to include the subtotal row definition in the subtotal calculation along with the subtotal rows included in the range of sections specified in the Section From and Section Thru fields. If you do not select the option, then the system excludes the subtotal rows from the calculations.

The system enables this field for subtotal row definitions only.
