42 AI Feature Management

You can choose to either enable or disable AI support in your existing Oracle AI Data Platform Workbench instance.

Oracle AI Data Platform Workbench requires an Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse instance of version 26ai or above to enable AI features like knowledge bases, agent flows, vector search and embedding storage, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows.

If you didn't create or link an Autonomous AI Lakehouse instance to your AI Data Platform Workbench instance at creation, you can create and configure one or select an existing instance from your home page.

To create or choose an Autonomous AI Lakehouse as part of creating your AI Data Platform Workbench, see Create Your First AI Data Platform Workbench.

When disabling AI features, if the Autonomous AI Lakehouse was provisioned as part of creating your AI Data Platform Workbench instance or created as part of the upgrade flow in Create an Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse Instance to Enable AI, you have two options:

  • You can disable and detach the Autonomous AI Lakehouse, leaving the instance available to reattach later to enable AI features, or
  • You can disable, detach, and permanently delete the Autonomous AI Lakehouse instance.

If you selected an existing Autonomous AI Lakehouse as part of creating your AI Data Platform Workbench instance or as part of the upgrade flow in Choose an Existing Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse Instance to Enable AI, you can only choose to disable and detach your Autonomous AI Lakehouse.

Note:

AI Data Platform Workbench deletes any existing AI resources when disabling AI features, including agent flows, AI compute, and knowledge bases.

If your Autonomous AI Lakehouse instance is in use for data or gold-layer workloads, choosing to disable and detach the instance allows the instance to continue supporting those workloads while still disabling support for AI features.

Note:

If the option to disable AI features is not shown on your home page, contact your AI Data Platform support to have the option enabled in your environment.

You can re-enable AI features by clicking Upgrade from the AI Integration card on your home page.
