Share Links from Oracle Content Management to Slack Channels

If you’re viewing files in the Oracle Content Management web interface, you can share links to that content directly to a specific Slack channel. Sharing a link to Slack is done much like sharing a link using email, but you can choose to send it to a channel, a direct message, or both.

  1. Select the file and choose Share Link in the right-click menu or click Share icon in the actions bar.

  2. Choose the type of link (member or public). You can’t create member links for files in the root folder.

    Note:

If you create a member link, access to the file is based on the user’s role on the folder. If you create a public link, access to the file is based on the role set as the system-wide default set by your administrator or by the setting on the parent folder. The role is shown at the bottom of the dialog. To change the role or edit other link options, click Edit Link Options.

    • For member links, you can select whether the file opens online or downloads to the user’s computer. If you select open online, the user’s access is based on their role on the parent folder.

    • For public links, you can change the permission, select whether anyone can access the file or only registered users, set an expiration date, and set an access code to limit access to the link.

  3. Select Slack from the Send To choice list.

    Note:

The Slack option is only available if Slack integration has been enabled by a service administrator. If it has been enabled but the Slack app has never been used, a message is shown explaining how to first authorize the Slack app so you can post links directly to Slack.
  4. If your service administrator has configured access to multiple Slack workspaces, you must select a workspace.

  5. Select the public ( Slack public channel icon ) or private ( Slack private channel icon ) channel or channels where you are posting the link, or the name of the person or people to whom you’re sending the link in a direct message ( Slack direct message icon ).

    • To search for people to send the link to in a direct message, begin entering the person’s name.

    • To search for either public or private Slack channels, begin the search with a #. Channels preceded by a Slack public channel icon are public, channels preceded by a Slack private channel icon are private.

      Note:

You can select multiple channels and people in combination to send the link.

  6. Add an optional message and when you’ve finished, click Send Link.
