Defining an Allocation Destination
After defining an allocation source, the next step is to define the members that describe where to allocate the data.
For each dimension in the Destination column, select the members that are to receive the allocated data. If you select a parent member, the allocation will go to its all its level 0 descendants.
To select members for the destination:
-
Click
next to a dimension in the Source column to expand it.
-
In the Destination column, click Add Destination, and then click
.
-
In the Select Members dialog box, select the desired members, and click OK. See Using the Member Selector
If you have a large number of members to add to the destination dimensions and you know the member names, instead of adding each member one-by-one from the Select Members dialog box, you can click
to the right of the Destination heading and enter the members in the Dimension Member Editor.
For example, if you have a list of members in an Excel spreadsheet, you can copy these members from Excel, and then paste them into the Dimension Member Editor. The members will be added to the dimensions in the desination to which they were assigned when the dimensions were created. See Adding Members to a Dimension.
Note:
The members you enter in the Dimension Member Editor can be assigned to any applicable dimension in the destination. To add multiple members to a specific dimension, click
next to the dimension.
You can also click
next to a dimension in the Destination column, and select one of the following options:
-
Add Multiple Members Destination: Accesses a dialog box where you can enter multiple members to the dimension at one time instead of having to individually select each member.
-
Set Destination Same As Source: Defines the members set for a destination dimension to be the same as the members set for the source dimension. See Setting the Destination to Same As Source.
-
Allocate to Parent: Creates a source to destination relationship for every member selection in the source, and targets its value to the member's parent. See Allocating to Parent/Siblings.
-
Allocate to Siblings: Creates a source to destination relationship for every member selection in the source, and targets its value to the member's siblings. See Allocating to Parent/Siblings.
-
Clear <Dimname> Selections: Clears all of the members you have selected for the dimension.
To remove an individual member, click on the member, and then select Remove<MemberName>, where <MemberName> is the name of the member you are removing.

Note:
See Managing Filters for Source and Destination Members for information on how to filter the source and dimension members used in a rule.
