Defining an Allocation Rule Offset

The offset tells the system how to balance out the allocated data. Select an option to specify where to post the offset:

  • Post Offset to the Source Location: If you select this option, the selected Source dimension members are used as the offset.
  • Post Offset to an Alternate Location: If you select this option, you specify a dimension target to calculate the offset values.

By default the offset is the same as the source location.

If you want to post the offset to an alternate location:

  1. Select Post Offset to an Alternate Location.

  2. Click the default Same As Source value next to a dimension, and then click Invoke Member Selector icon.
  3. In the Select Members dialog box, select the dimension member to use for the offset. You must select a single, level-0 member. See Using the Member Selector.

You can optionally click Offset Dimension Member Editor icon to the right of the Offset Dimensions heading and enter the members in the Dimension Member Editor.

The members will be added to the dimensions to which they were assigned when the dimensions were created. See Adding Members to a Dimension.

Note:

You do not need to select an alternate member for every dimension. Instead, select an alternate member only for those dimensions whose members are different from the members in the source location.
