Enabling Send Time Optimization for an email

Send Time Optimization allows marketers to send emails at the optimal time for each contact. It helps marketers engage more effectively with contacts, gaining contacts' attention when they are historically most attentive to their emails. In this topic, you'll learn how to enable Send Time Optimization for an email in the campaign canvas.

Tip: An email with Send Time Optimization enabled is indicated with An image of the Send Time Optimization icon on the Campaign Canvas.

To enable Send Time Optimization for an email

  1. In the campaign canvas, double click on an Email element.

  2. Open the Scheduling tab.

  3. Select Enable Send Time Optimization from the Mode drop-down.
  4. Configure the following option:
    • Optimization: Select whether to Optimize by time of day or Optimize by time of day and day of week when sending the email. With Optimize by time of day, a contact will receive emails at the optimal time of day, regardless of what day they receive it on. With Optimize by time of day and day of week, Eloqua will determine which combination of time of day and day of week is optimal for each contact.

Your email's send time will now be optimized by contact after the campaign begins.
