Creating an intermediate unsubscribe landing page

If you use Eloqua's unsubscribe system action link in an email, and are not sending contacts to a subscription management page, we recommend that you setup an intermediate unsubscribe page. This is a landing page created in Eloqua using a template we provide. When a contact clicks an unsubscribe link, they are presented this page to confirm the unsubscribe. If you do not use this type of landing page, contacts can be unsubscribed by email scanning tools unintentionally. To enable the intermediate unsubscribe page, update your email defaults.

The intermediate unsubscribe page template includes:

  • The email address being unsubscribed

  • Button to confirm the unsubscribe page

You can customize your page as required.

Before you begin:

  • Only customer administrators can access the unsubscribe landing page template.

  • The template we provide includes a confirmation button. This button is configured specifically for the contact to confirm their unsubscribe. It cannot be removed from the email.

To create an intermediate unsubscribe landing page:

  1. Navigate to Assets An image of the Assets icon, which is represented by a black pencil., then click Landing Pages.
  2. Click Create a Landing Page to open the Template Chooser window.
  3. Search for the template Intermediate Unsubscribe Template.
  4. Name your intermediate unsubscribe page by clicking Untitled Landing Page in the top left and typing a new name.
  5. Click to configure your landing page settings.
  6. Customize the page as needed.
  7. Click Save.

After saving your landing page, update your email defaults to use this page when an unsubscribe link is clicked.
