Add new SSL certificates

After the conversion to a branded domain is complete, you can use Manage SSL Certificates page to add your SSL certificates. Enabling SSL support for your branded domain is required for the Responsys Conversion Tracking feature and for the Responsys iOS Universal Links and Android App Links features.

To add SSL certificates:

  1. From the side navigation bar, select Account . (If you do not see the side navigation bar, click the Menu button (aka Hamburger menu) icon.)
  2. You can add SSL certificates for your primary account and, if your account is enabled for AFTM, for your secondary account. (Not seeing these choices? Refer to the Account management changes topic.)
    • To add SSL certificates for your primary account: Select Global settings, and then select Manage SSL certificates.
    • To add SSL certificates for your secondary account: Select Secondary account settings, and then select Manage SSL certificates.

The Manage SSL Certificates page opens.

  3. Click Add SSL.
  4. If multiple domains exist for the account, select the one you want from the Response Handler list.
  5. Click Generate CSR.

The Generate CSR dialog opens, and you can enter the details for the Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

Note: The SSL Certificate Contact Information is visible in SSL Cert when viewed in browser. The information must match the contact information of your base domain. For example, if your sub-domain is news.example.com, the contact information (city, state, etc.) must match the information that is configured for example.com. Check with your IT resource for this information. In most cases, the information matches your company’s corporate contact details.

  6. Specify the following:
    • Generate CSR For—this is automatically set for the Response Handler domain you selected above.
    • Country code—the ISO-2 country code of the country where your organization is legally registered.
    • State or Provence Name—the name of the state or province where your organization is located. Do not abbreviate the name.
    • Locality or City Name—the name of the city where your organization is registered/located. Do not abbreviate the name.
    • Organization Name—the legal name of your organization. Include suffixes such as Inc, Corp, or LLC. Do not abbreviate the name.
    • Organization unit name— the DBA name of your organization, if applicable.
    • SSL contact email address—optional.
  7. Click Submit. A new row will be created in the Manage SSL Certificates table once the CSR is generated.
  8. From the Actions column, choose Download to download the CSR.
  9. Using the downloaded CSR, purchase the SSL certificate from your preferred SSL certificate vendor.

Important: When purchasing the SSL certificate, we strongly recommend that you purchase an Extended Validated (EV SSL) or an Organization Validated (OV SSL) certificate.

  10. After you have the SSL certificate, return to the Manage SSL Certificates page in Responsys.
  11. From the Actions column, select Upload SSL for the row you added in the previous steps.
  12. Browse to the SSL files on your system, and then click Upload.

All of the uploaded files are displayed as a list. Select one as the main SSL Certificate. All others are treated as intermediate CA certificates.

Tip: If you're not sure about how to do this, log in to My Oracle Support and see the Oracle Support Document 2210265.1, Self-service Instructions for Managing SSL Certificates. This article contains details about how to ensure that your CSR and the primary certificate match, how to separate the certificates into its component files, and what to do if you encounter an error in uploading the SSL certificate ("Error in uploading SSL key").

After the SSL certificate is successfully installed, an email notification is sent to the account administrator and the optional SSL contact email address. The status also changes to Active, and the certificate expiration date is shown in the list.

Note: To regenerate the CSR, add a new record, restart the generation process, then delete the old Processing record.
